It’s finally time to talk about the new and exciting innovations in the film lighting industry, RGB. RGB lights offer seemingly endless creative potential for filmmakers and photographers. At 30% off, now is the perfect time to dive deeper into RGB with FilmGear®’s Aurora panels and Helios space lights.
Aurora Panel: Starting from $2,646.00
Packing 400W or 200W of efficient RGBW/CW LEDs into a 2x1 or 1x1 frame, the Aurora improves upon the industry-leading output and color accuracy of FilmGear®’s CCT panels by adding the versatility of the HSI, GEL, and Scene modes.
CCT mode allows the light to operate as a more familiar bi-color panel with several useful bonuses. In addition to the increased color temperature range from 2700K-10,000K, the 400C outputs an industry-leading 180fc at 10ft, which can be dimmed 0-100% with the 5 preset dimming curves: linear, exponential, logarithmic, S, and TV. You can also add and subtract green (or magenta) light. If you work with green screens a lot then this added benefit is a must have to properly key your subjects.
HSI mode puts the full RGB spectrum at your disposal, allowing you to fine tune the exact color you need. You can get everything from the faintest hints of color to the most saturated punches of light, all without sacrificing intensity with the R/G/B/W/CW color mixing.
The Aurora’s GEL mode includes hundreds of standard gel presets, making it crucial timesaver for experienced professionals who are used to the lighting filters that they know and love. Say goodbye to the hassle of setting up and maintaining physical gels, which are susceptible to deterioration or burning. Swapping between gels or changing the source light from tungsten to daylight becomes as simple as a twist of a knob.
Scene mode is an absolute game changer with its programmable special effects patterns. In scene mode you can mimic the flickering of a fire, the flashing of police beacons, the glow of a television washing over a subject's face, and so much more, with just one light. Scene mode comes preset with 8 scenes: police lights, storm, fire, party, candle, TV, fireworks and club lights. Each has settings for adjusting the frequency of the patterns allowing you to choose between the flickering glow of a dying campfire and the raging inferno of a burning building. With the option to import more scenes via USB, you can now get the effects of complex and dynamic practical lighting while still maintaining the quality and control of professional grade film lights.
Softboxes, barndoors, and eggcrates are all available for the Aurora.
High Power CCT Panel: Starting from $1,379.00
If you just need the raw output of the Aurora then consider its bi-color cousin, the High Power CCT Panel. Also available in 400W and 200W, the CCT Panel is the quick and simple option for adding a boost of diffuse light wherever and whenever you need it.
The CCT Panel boasts an output of 158fc from 10ft at 5600K daylight, and still gives you that soft, even distribution of light you expect from FilmGear®'s LED panels. The straightforward LCD menu also allows you to adjust the color temperature from 2700K-6000K with preset buttons for the most used color temperatures. This panel has an industry class leading CRI and TLCI of >95.
With its easy set-up and high output, the High Power CCT Panel has its place on any set. Soft and hard eggcrates are available for reducing light spill, as well as a softbox for further diffusion. Barndoors are also an option for the CCT Panel to further shape your light.
Helios CCT: Starting from $1,456.00
Reigning winners of NAB’s Product of the Year award, the Helios series LED space lights have only continued their upwards trajectory with improvements to their already stellar performance and adding new members to the family.
Back in 2019, the H700 and H1000 bi-color space lights, later renamed 700B and 1000B, both won awards on the strength of their raw output and incredible color temperature accuracy, with CRI and TLCI exceeding 95. Since then, the COVID-19 pandemic may have hit the film industry hard, but FilmGear®’s engineers did not spend that time idling, instead optimizing the Helios 700B for illuminance and throw to nearly double the H1000 model’s output. Though the 700B is the favorite among large studios, FilmGear® also added the smaller Helios 500B based on the same LED design, but in a more compact form ideal for smaller studios, while still matching the intensity of the H1000.
Loaded with adjustable color temp, preset dimming curves, and configurable fan speeds, the Helios series is designed to minimize upkeep after setup. You can often find these lights lining the ceilings of major studios for many months without needing servicing, which really lets you make full use of the 30,000+ hours of LED lifespan.
Each Helios 700B comes with a silk skirt and target assembly, a solid black skirt, and a 3-point rigging chain for use as a hanging set. Additional accessories for the Helios include octagonal softbox, octagonal eggcrate, and a yoke mount for use as a skypan.
Helios RGB: Starting from $4,060.00
The much more colorful cousin to the bi-color Helios, the Helios 700C has arrived to raise the bar even higher. Building upon their industry-leading CRI and TLCI, the Helios 700C adds the versatility of FilmGear®’s RGBW LEDs to make it easy to get the light you want with less work.
Phasing out traditional gels is an idea that already has grips and gaffers excited. Adding gels is tedious and can become time consuming, especially when those gels need to go up onto hanging space lights. The Helios 700C features all of the same modes as the Aurora panel, so you don’t have to stress about getting gels up in the truss again or worry about burning gels and setting off smoke detectors on the ceiling.
While there are a wide selection of LED skypans, few RGB ones exist, and even fewer have the usefulness of the yoke-mounted Helios 700C. Shine it through a window in CCT or GEL mode to capture that golden sunset look, or spice things up with preset scenes to imitate a crime scene or celebratory fireworks.
When it comes to hanging sets though, space lights are best when they can be left untouched. To that end, the 700C is equipped with the entire gamut of wired and wireless connection options, including DMX/RDM, Ethernet, USB, wireless DMX, and Bluetooth, giving you full control over the fixture in any of its modes.
LEDs with increasingly high outputs are taking over many of the film industry’s favorite lights, and we’re offering a chance to get ahead with a 30% discount on our Helios and Aurora series, now through Labor Day. That means this week is the last week of all of our Summer Sales, so don’t miss out on these deals!
