Power Beam Hybrid Takes The Stage as our End Of Year Sale Kicks Off!

As the holiday season approaches, FilmGear® is thrilled to unveil an electrifying innovation in lighting technology – the Power Beam Hybrid! Leveraging the success of our popular Power Beams, known for their reinforced glass mirrors and dual lamp support, we’re now ready to take a bold leap forward. The Power Beam Hybrid redefines versatility in beam projectors, combining both daylight and tungsten in a single fixture.

If you already know and love our Power Beams for their sharp beams of focused light, you’ll be glad to hear that that light can now come in warm or cool white, all from the same lamphead. It’s as simple as swapping out your dimmer for an HMI ballast, switching to an HMI bulb and then adjusting the lamp lock to match.

Gaffers all around the globe have been clamoring for a solution like this to streamline their work and get more done, and FilmGear® couldn’t let them down. Adding extra mechanical complexity while staying out of the way of that beautiful beam was tricky, but our engineers gladly rose to the challenge. The result is a marvel of a light, which makes no compromises in light quality to add versatility.

And speaking of versatility, FilmGear® has you covered with the full Power Beam Hybrid family:

  • 5/2kW + 4/2.5kW (18”)

  • 12/10kW + 9/6kW (24”)

  • 24/20kW + 18/12kW (36”)

The new FilmGear® Power Beam Hybrid is now available for pre-order so put in a request today. However, if you’re still in the market for the classic Power Beam, don’t forget about our ongoing End of Year sale where you can get 15% off of our existing line of beam projectors!

We are always looking to meet the needs of gaffers everywhere and strive to make improvements where we can. The Power Beam Hybrid is a prime example of how we continue to innovate and push the envelope! If you’re interested in learning more give us a call at (323)780-8880 or place an order by emailing us at joanna@filmgearusa.com.

Frequently Asked Questions about FilmGear®’s Zenith

Since the introduction of our Zenith line, many are curious about the capabilities and features of this new LED light. To address these inquiries, here are some frequently asked questions about our new RGB high-power panel, the Zenith:

How do these compare to your existing Power LEDs?

The Zenith represents the next step in the evolution of our Power LED series. Each MCOB LED chip is equipped with our state-of-the-art TIR lenses, resulting in a punchier and more directional output than its predecessor, the Power LED.

One of the most beloved aspects of the Power LEDs have been the absolute beating they can withstand, and the Zenith adds to that with an official IP65 rating, guaranteeing even greater resilience against the elements. Additionally, the Zenith offers a full spectrum of both bi-color and RGB capabilities, all controllable through wireless DMX.

How are filmmakers using the Zenith?

Thanks to its precise color temperature control, expansive gel options, and pre-programmed scenes, this powerhouse LED panel commands incredible versatility. Packing enough power for both indoor and outdoor shoots, it can serve as a key light for any scene or simulate specific atmospheres like a roaring fire, a dramatic thunderstorm, the ambiance of a nightclub, or a squad of police cars, just to name a few.

Can the Zenith be used as a soft light panel?

Absolutely. The Zenith can be paired with diffusers to transform its intense beam into a softer, more subtle glow. There's a reversible flat diffuser that can easily be attached or removed, providing 33 or 44-degree beam angles. For those seeking an even gentler illumination, there's the dome diffuser. This external attachment broadens the light's angle and produces a softer overall lighting effect.

What kind of form factors are there?

The Zenith line offers various shapes and outputs. The larger 1500W model comes in a 3x2 design, while the 1000W model comes in a 2x2 square. The newest 700W model condenses that same powerful punch of light in a tight 2x1 form factor. Additional configurations are on their way as we continue to innovate based on feedback from our gaffer community, all to deliver the ultimate power panel.

These are some of the most frequently asked questions regarding one of our newest staples in the FilmGear® arsenal, the Zenith. If you have questions of your own that weren’t covered here, feel free to contact us via email info@filmgearusa.com or give us a call at (323) 780-8880!

FilmGear® Testimonials: Power with a Lower Price Tag and Perfect Customer Support

The FilmGear® family of filmmakers has grown over the years. We love to hear from gaffers across the globe about what they enjoy most about FilmGear® lights. Here are just a few of the things they had to say about working with our fixtures.

The smooth light quality of our robustly built HMIs has made them an absolute staple of our lighting arsenal. Thanks to their powerhouse output and workhorse design, they’re a favorite among professionals who need a sun they can rely on. In fact, some of our units have been roughing it out on all kinds of sets for over 20 years! We’re proud to provide gaffers with powerful lampheads that can stand up to anything, and gaffers like Mazi are proud to own FilmGear® as well:

“The HMI lampheads held up in the harshest environments: I went to Istanbul, we worked 12-14 hour days and they were really efficient, they were in great shape. I got many compliments on FilmGear’s light quality.”

- Mazi Mitchell, Local 728 Gaffer

Beyond our flagship HMIs, FilmGear®’s LEDs are loved by many gaffers for their dependable, accurate output. In particular, the Apollos’ intense yet efficient punchiness matched their traditional fresnel counterparts so well that gaffers like Zack were immediately smitten. It’s no wonder it drew the eye of gaffers the world over!

“I was really drawn to the LED Fresnels. It’s a lot cooler and I like the bi-color aspect. It’s really precise and the brightness is even punchier than the 2k we had which was very important!

- Zack Zeidman, Gaffer

While light quality is certainly important, FilmGear® users universally know the value of a light’s build quality. Any light that’s going to be on set for months at a time, moving from location to location needs to be built like a tank. With our lights finding homes in every corner of the globe for decades, pros can rest assured that they can stand the test of time and brave the rigors of set life.

“I was impressed by the quality of construction. These lights were pretty beefy, and will stand up well to a lot of abuse.”

-BLT Studios Stage Manager

While price point is definitely an important factor, FilmGear® doesn’t sacrifice any quality to meet your budget. That’s why we can be proud of not just our affordability but also the actual value that comes with it . We also offer in-depth technical support and will service your fixtures in a timely manner so you can get the light back to set as soon as possible!

“To me the three things that are so important are affordability, bang for buck quality and customer support.”

- Nikola Kitanovski, Director

It is always an absolute pleasure to hear from the amazing filmmakers who have worked with our broad arsenal of lights. We love getting their feedback on what we’re doing right but also where we can make changes or improvements. If you have your own experiences with any of our lights, feel free to share them with us, we look forward to it! After all, FilmGear® is engineered by filmmakers for filmmakers.

Pack Your Truck with Lighting On The Go!

While we’ll never miss a chance to brag about our advanced optics and robust IP ratings, there’s more to lighting than artistry and output. Whether you’re cautiously ready to buy your first professional lights or excitedly looking to add some versatility to your arsenal, FilmGear helps you find the perfect fixture for your needs by offering the full spectrum of lighting options.

Starter Kit

As an anonymous producer once said, “the right light is the one we can afford.” FilmGear’s® budget friendly lights give you the output you need without draining your wallet, so let’s take a closer look at the FG Starter Pack while things are still 30% off for our Summer Sale.

Of course Tungsten Fresnels are a classic when it comes to any lighting package with a simple yet effective design you can rely on. Or if you’re looking for some of the modern comforts of LED, the Apollo 300B Fresnel will outshine a 2k tungsten fixture while offering on-board controls for dimming and color temperature as well as the option to operate via DMX or wireless.

Or maybe you’re looking to capture a softer glow for beauty shots while maintaining a compact form factor. In that case, a soft panel like the Aurora 200B is a shortcut to that glamorous light field while being a whopping 40% brighter per watt than similar soft panels.

But perhaps you’re trying to broaden that soft light glow to a whole studio space? The Helios 500B space light is the most efficient way to cover your set in a smooth wash of daylight; on its own the Helios easily delivers what might otherwise take a dozen carefully aimed lamps.

Travel Friendly

We haven’t forgotten our on-location lovers though, so lets switch gears to our most travel friendly options. Not only do these FilmGear’s® LEDs painlessly slip into an overpacked truck, they give you options when you need to scale down your shoot.

The slim form factor of the SL Panel, available in 100B or 200B, gives the light minimal footprint and there’s no need to break your back at a slender 13 lbs or 25 lbs respectively. The SL Panel also comes equipped with V-mount battery plates for when power is scarce, making it the perfect choice for a documentarian on the go!

Still not small enough? FilmGear recently debuted the Cinemat, a flexible light pad capable of contorting its way into tight spaces. The 100B Cinemat is less than 2 lbs so it can hang by its own velcro or be suspended with tape. V-mount batteries can also be used with the Cinemat, attaching to the external ballast to preserve the light’s feathery physique. The light, ballast, and soft box accessories all fit in a soft case the size of a standard messenger bag for when you need to run and gun. Your location scout can take it easy because FilmGear® lights work where you do!

Whether you’re starting out or setting out, FilmGear® staff is always happy to help you find the perfect match. So hang up on that new investor or truck rental, and instead give us a call at 323-780-8880 for more info or e-mail joanna@filmgearusa.com to purchase or book a demo. There’s only 4 weeks left in the summer sale so don’t miss your chance to pick up the industry’s best and brightest at up to 30% off!

Soft Lights Blanket Your Set

Whether you’re looking to add a glowing backlight or wrap your subject in a diffused wash, FilmGear’s® variety of LED fixtures ensure you always have the right light in your kit.

Our flagship soft panel, the Aurora, is the perfect jack-of-all-trades with its smooth throw and unrivaled output. Whether working with the 200W or 400W panels, the FilmGear® Aurora is 40% brighter per watt than comparable panels from our competitors. That contrast becomes even more pronounced with the Aurora II which maintains the same efficiency at 220W and 450W for even more punch.

The Aurora line isn’t just known for brightness. For DP David Berry, this armored fixture grants him a level of convenience and peace of mind that you just don’t get from other panels: “The rock solid build lets [the Auroras] ride with the rest of your equipment instead of needing bulky cases.”

While soft panels have got you covered for smaller spaces, there’s no need to think small with the Helios Space Light. The Helios skirt set is perfect for efficiently illuminating an entire studio space, spreading its light evenly across a wide area. A single Helios can create a natural feeling environment, while a fleet of space lights smoothly covers even the largest greenscreen setups.

While the Helios 500B and 700B have the output to get the job done, the RGB 700C and 1100C have the versatility for color cyclorama lighting and limitless effect presets. But you don’t have to leave your Helios hanging: a yoke mount and soft box converts the light into a skypan for even more blending options!

For simple, soft, and smooth lighting check out FilmGear LEDs today and save up to 30% during our summer sale before these deals fade away. Order now at joanna@filmgearusa.com or call us at 323-780-8880 for more info.

Hard Light Made Easy With FilmGear®

FilmGear® is making hard light easy by opening up the barn doors with a breakdown of our wide arsenal of shapeable lights!

You can always start with our classic fresnels: reliable workhorses that output a clean, hotspot-free beam. The Daylight Fresnels range from 575W to 18k/12kW with dual-lamp support, while the tungsten line goes up to 24k/20kW. This extended family of fixtures is rounded out by the Apollo line of LED fresnels in bi-color and RGB, drawing up to 300W in RGB or 500W in daylight or tungsten. Don’t let their low power draw fool you though—even the compact Apollo 150B can easily match a 1kW Tungsten Fresnel.

But if output is king, look no further than FilmGear®’s HMI Faceted PARs. The F-Series uses specially designed reflectors to maximize brightness while preserving an even spread of light. By forgoing the thick fresnel lens, these lights efficiently outshine fresnels across the board, from 800W up to 18kW.

In addition to those faceted reflectors, FilmGear®’s engineers have also been developing the Total Internal Reflection lenses that give FilmGear® LEDs their signature 23º punchiness. The Zenith 1000C and 1500C are 2x2 and 2x3 hard light panels capable of outputting over 10000 lux at 20ft. The Zenith is also IP65 rated to withstand the rough-and-tumble of shooting on location. For broader area coverage, FilmGear®’s RGB Maxibrutes employ the same TIR lenses to blast a wall of light while maintaining focused directionality.

If you’re willing to trade a bit of power efficiency for a much more cost-efficient option, don’t overlook our Tungsten Maxibrutes. Available in 4, 6, 12, and 24 heads, these lights show up to get the job done.

Whether you’re looking for a high-output workhorse or a powerhouse LED with some serious spit, FilmGear® has got the hard light for you.

There’s never been a better time to buy with up to 30% off during our summer sale, so call us at 323-780-8880 or sales@filmgearusa.com to place an order or arrange a demo here and see them for yourself first!
